Make a transparent PNGFrom a photo
Scan turns a photo of a paper signature into a transparent PNG by removing the light paper. Adjust Paper removal until only ink remains. This is thresholding, not tracing: the ink stays exactly as photographed.
From typing or drawing
Typed and drawn signatures are transparent by default. Choose the ink colour before you save. Drawn signatures can also be downloaded as vector SVG; typed SVG contains text, so its look depends on the font where it is opened. See drawing details.

Why transparency matters
A signature with a solid white background shows as a pale box the moment it lands on coloured letterhead, a dark slide or a video frame. A transparent PNG keeps only the ink, so it sits on any background as if it were signed directly on it.
Choosing a resolution
2× is enough for screens, email footers and most documents. Use 3× when the signature will be printed large or enlarged on a poster, so the edges stay crisp instead of soft.

Frequently asked questions
Will the background really be see-through, or just white?
See-through. The PNG carries an alpha channel with no fill behind the ink, not a white square that only looks transparent in some apps.
What resolution should I download?
2x covers screens, email footers and most documents. Use 3x if the signature will be printed large or enlarged on a poster.
Can I get a transparent PNG from a photo of a paper signature?
Yes. Scan removes the paper around your ink with the Paper removal control, then downloads as a transparent PNG.
Does the on-dark variant need different handling to stay transparent?
No. It downloads the same way as any other kit variant; only the ink itself is adjusted so it reads clearly on a dark background.
Why does my scanned signature still show a faint box or paper texture?
Raise Paper removal further until only ink remains. If the photo was unevenly lit, retake it in flatter light so there is less texture to remove.
Can a scanned signature also be exported as SVG?
No. A scan is a photo-based cutout, so it downloads as PNG. For a true vector, draw or type your signature instead.
Is my photo uploaded when I scan a signature?
No. The photo is processed in your browser and is not uploaded.
